On Saturday (Oct 18) we had our ECCS temple trip. 26 students joined the trip.
The two temples that we visited lie within in the beautiful mountains in the West of Beijing.
The Tanzhesi (潭柘寺) dates back to the Western Jin-Period (265-420) and therefore is even older than the predecessors of today’s Beijing.
The Jietaisi (戒台寺), built in the Sui-Dynasty, is over 1300 years old and famous for its temple gardens and century old juniper trees. Since it houses the biggest monk ordination platform in China it is ranked among of „the big temples“.
